Abstract

Bathing-garments are made by cutting up a rubber sheet having a regular repeated pattern of perforations into blanks, assembling the blanks into garment form, and covering the perforations in certain portions by means of a patch of plain or perforate rubber sheet. In the latter case the perforations must not register. The various blanks may be stuck together by pressure and vulcanization, or, if already cured, by means of rubber cement. The sheet may be produced by spreading latex on a patterned plate, wiping the excess from the raised portions, and drying; or by alternately spraying latex and coagulant on an open fabric or a rubber negative thereof; or by the methods described in Specifications 416,904 and 451,012.
