Abstract

460,399. Valves. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. April 16, 1936, No. 10952. Convention date, April 27, 1935. [Class 135] In a stop valve for vessels containing compressed gases comprising a corrugated sealing diaphragm 10 clamped at its edge between two casing parts 1, 2, the diaphragm is supported in every adjusted position by an annular member 13, which has a thickened outer edge and is at least partly sawn from its inner edge in several radia. directions. As shown the member 13 is sawn into a number of separate sectors. The valve is actuated by a screwed spindle 15 which acts through a ball thrust bearing 14, a thrust member 19, the composite member 13 and the diaphragm 10 on the valve 11. On raising the spindle 15, the valve 11 is opened by inlet pressure aided by a spring 9 in a chamber 8 which may communicate with the outlet passage 7 by an aperture. Packing- rings are interposed between the diaphragm 10 and the casing parts 1, 2. The whole valve is protected by a hood 17.
