Abstract
459,251. Valve amplifying circuits. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and EDWARDS, G. W., and ESPLEY, D. C., c/o General Electric Co., Ltd., Wembley, Middlesex. Oct. 31, 1935, No. 30082. [Class 40 (v)] In an amplifier of the type shown, the gain is rendered constant throughout a range of frequencies. It is assumed that the product gZ of the mutual conductance g and the coupling impedance Z is independent of frequency, the quantities g, Z being normally themselves constant. Variation in gain is usually produced, however, by the impedances Z1, Z2, of which Z1 usually comprises a biassing resistance R1 shunted by a decoupling capacity C1, while Z2 comprises the resistance R2 of the high-tension supply shunted by a smoothing- capacity C2. According to the invention, in order that the gain may be constant the relation R2/R1=C1/C2=Zg is established. The resistances may be afforded by ganged rheostats.
