[Class 132 (ii)] [See also Group XVIII] A coin-actuated amusement device of the kind in which a player endeavours to secure an article by a fishing rod and line, comprises a casing A, Fig. 1, having at its upper part a compartment composed of glass panels a, a<1> enclosing a tray B which is rotated for a certain time by an electric motor e started by a coinfreed mechanism (not shown). The tray carries articles provided with loops to be engaged by a hook d<1> on the end of a line d depending from a rod D. The rod D is mounted in a spherical bearing f so that it can be moved laterally and in an upward direction but not in a downward direction, and is provided with an external operating handle d<2>. The rod can also be moved within the bearing f against the action of a spring p. The tray is carried by a vertical spindle b slidable but non-rotatable in a wheel c which is driven through reduction-gearing by the motor e. The tray is raised to bring the articles into the path of the hook d<1> by a finger g on the wheel c engaging one arm h of a bellcrank lever, the other arm of which is forked to engage a groove on the spindle b. When an article is hooked, the player guides the line between a fixed releasing fork i and raises the rod to tilt the hook d<1>, thereby releasing the article which drops down a delivery shoot o. The hook is pivoted to a rod d<3>, Fig. 4, on the lower end of the line, the rod d<3> passing through a sleeve m having a dollar m<1>. When the line is in the fork i and is pulled upwardly, the collar m is retained by the fork so that a nose d<4> on the hook d<1> abuts against it to turn the hook and release the hooked article. Intead of by a bell-crank lever, the tray B may be raised and lowered by a screw-and-nut mechanism or by means of a hydraulically or pneumatically operated piston.
