The' nianually7V .controlled means acting` through al portion ot'the' stop vmotion mechanism for automatically starting the. vvind-- ing-:oft theoc'op is constructed, arrangedY and operated as follows.:
VA' startingjhand lever 24; is loosely pivoted on'lthe'shait" 13;` carried by the plate lever'l, which handlever tends', by gravity, to swing to the limit ofits outward movement, avvay from' the 'l plate lever.l v v A startingliclier 2'is vcarriedl'by' the con'- tifnuou'sly' osellatngsliat '17T inf di fferent plane from that o'tthe' stop kicker 16.` A pa'vvlisgpivot'edon the startinghand lever 241: inV position to' loemove'dX into? tlie'pathjot the, sjtar'tn'g'jkclier1 xfvhen the starting ,lia-nd l'ever 24e' is" moved to the limit lof" its inward movement toward theplatelever 1 and thefplate" lever' is at Vth`e"lint1it' of its in wardfmcvement'. ' As the starltingfhand lever 24' tendsghy gravity to s'wing'outivardly away" fromthe stop motion plate lever 1', and to therfeliy litt the paivl out of the p`jatlilo-t3 the oscillating; starting kiclier'; l provide a= latch 27, tpivoted at 28 tothe hand lever for f temporarily lo'eliiig"` lthe handl'ever at the' limit of' its inward.4 movement With' the paW'l in the path'of'tlie startingkicker. This is accomplished" loy, causing L the f1`"`ee'end of the said latch to rest upon the oscillating kicker shaft until it is disengaged therefrom. My automatic starting mechanism is placed in operation as follows:
l will assume that the stop motion plate lever l has been rocked from its run position, shown in TEig. l to its stop position, shown in Fig. 2.
After the yarn, or the like, is ready for Winding, the starting hand lever 24 is manually rocked inwardly toward the stop motion plate lever 1 until the paivl 26 has been moved into the path of the starting kicker 25 and until the latch 27 has been brought into engagement with the oscillating kicker shaft 17. rlhe latch Will then temporarily hold the parts in this position. If the paivl happened to be brought into the path of the starting kicker in back of the kicker, the paivl Will ride over the kicker as the kickerl moves rearwardly and then dropped into position in front of the kicker. The kicker, in its forward movement, will engage the paivl and through it, rock the stop motion plate lever and the parts carried thereby, to the limit of the outward movement of the plate lever Where it will be yieldingly held by the spring 5. This movement Will permit the cop holder 7 to drop the cop into engagement with the driving roll 6 and thus start the .Winding of the cop. rlhis outward movement of the stop motion plate lever Will release the latch 27 from its engagement with the continuously oscillating kicker shaft 17, thereby permitting the starting hand lever 2a to drop, by gravity, to the limit of its outward movement, vthus raising the paWl 26v out of the path of the oscillating start-- ing kicker 25.
It is evident that various changes m'ay be resorted to in the construction, form and arrangement of the several parts Without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention; hence, I do not intend to be limited to the particular embodiment herein shown and described, but What I claim is l.
