Abstract
In a process for the manufacture of artificial silk by the wet spinning process, the wet silk, wound into a package of the coreless or deformable type is dried, and the threads therein are loosened by a step of kneading or other pressing operation, and then re-moistened and again dried. Processes of after-treatment such as desulphurizing, bleaching or brightening may be combined singly or as a whole with the moistening operation. Thread treated according to this process is more uniform than thread dried in the ordinary manner as a compact package.
