Abstract

457,924. Sifting-apparatus. ARNOLD, C., 11, Southampton Buildings, Chancery Lane, London.-(Tyier Co., W. S. ; 3615, Superior Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A.) March 9, 1935, No. 7370. [Class 117] In sifting-apparatus, a fine screen is supported by spacers secured to a coarser screen and the screens are vibrated in unison by means directly engaging them both. In the form shown, the vibrating arm 8 is connected to steel strips 9, 11, 13 secured to the two screens 1, 6 with resilient material disposed between the strips. The screen 1 rests on strips of asbestos or fibre 7 interlaced with the coarser screen 6. In a modification, the spacers may be in the form of strips secured to the screen 6 by studs or by buttons 17, Fig. 6, and may extend transversely of the screen or transversely and axially. In a further modification, rubber cords are interlaced with the lower screen to serve as separators.
