Abstract

457,886. Valve amplifying circuits. BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., 58, Victoria Street, Westminster, and WILSON, J. C., 24, Whitworth Park Mansions, Moss Lane East, Manchester. April 8, 1936, No. 16514/35. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] The load impedance of an amplifying-valve 10 or of a photo-electric cell comprises an electron multiplier 11. The electron multiplier may be of the type described in Specification 450,138, having two surfaces emitting secondary electrons, and acts as a negative resistance. The system gives high amplification, and reduction of the Miller effect. The multiplier 11 is primed with high-frequency voltage through a transformer 13 of high impedance and is preferably operated on the threshold of self-oscillation. The priming frequency is outside the range of the signal frequency. The amplified signal is taken off at the condenser 9.
