Abstract
457,532. Valve circuits. MURPHY RADIO, Ltd., 62, Brook Street, Hanover Square, London, and DAVIES, K. S., and FREUNDLICH, H. F. W. J., c/o Murphy Radio, Ltd., Broadwater Road, Welwyn Garden Citv. June 7, 1935, No. 16603. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] Signals of different amplitude are differentiated by a screen-grid valve 1 operating on the negative-resistance part of its anode volts-anode current characteristic. Television and synchronizing signals are applied to the controlling-grid, and grid bias, anode, and screen-grid voltage are applied from a potentiometer 3.. 6 such that the valve operates on the negative-resistance part of the characteristic for values of applied grid voltage between the maximum picture signal and the minimum synchronizing-signal. A resistance 2 in the anode circuit is approximately equal, numerically, to the apparent negative resistance of the valve, and the anode supplies a scanning circuit through a lead 14. The valve is shunted by a diode 7 or other unilateral conductor in series with a biassing potential (across the resistance 4), which is equal to the potential of the anode at the lower bend of its grid volts-anode current characteristic.
