Abstract

456,666. Valve generating circuits. TINGLEY, G. R., PUGH, D. W., and BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., 58, Victoria Street, Westminster. May 17, 1935, No. 14497. [Class 40 (v)] In a scanning oscillator comprising a back - coupled valve which tends to oscillate at some arbitrary frequency, such oscillation being modified or prevented by overcoupling at the scanning frequency, ripple in the saw tooth current is eliminated by shunting the deflector coils. Preferably an adjustable capacity is connected between the grid and anode circuits to control the fly-back time, the minimum duration of which is determined by the air-gap in the ferromagnetic core on which coils 2, 3 are wound. The circuit shunted across the deflector coils 8 comprises a condenser 10 and an adjustable resistance 11, the latter providing a means for varying the amplitude of the saw-tooth currents. Locking impulses may be applied to a coil 14 on the same core as the coils 2, 3 or to a screengrid. A push-pull arrangement may be used. Specification 456,138 is referred to.
