Abstract

711,325. Saw-tooth generating circuits. PHILCO CORPORATION. Aug. 22, 1952 [Jan. 18, 1952], No. 21125/52. Class 40 (6) A deflection current generator comprises a transformer having a plurality of windings connected in series, one winding having deflection coils and a damping circuit coupled thereto and the other winding being wholly or partly shunted by a damping circuit having a low impedance at a frequency at which ringing occurs and a high impedance at the deflection current repetition frequency. The saw-tooth generator shown comprises an auto transformer connected to deflection coils 32 and a damping diode 36. Ringing in winding 24 may cause the anode voltage of the driver valve to become negative and thus Barkhausen-Kurz oscillations to be generated, but such ringing is prevented by a damping circuit 50, 52 resonant at the ringing frequency and itself damped by a series or shunt resistor 54. This resonant damping circuit may be connected across only a part of the winding and may be supplemented by further circuits resonant at other ringing frequencies.
