456,238. Adjusting brakes. ROWLAND, T. C. E., 49, Silhill Hall Road, Solihull, Warwickshire, and PARKER, H., 71, Hazelhurst Road, King's Heath, Birmingham. Oct. 29, 1935.- [Class 103 (i)] In an internal shoe brake in which the shoes have automatically adjustable cam-engaging faces, the adjusting gears of the faces are coupled together and the drive is connected to one of the adjusting gears only. The faces 8 are adjusted by screws 10 coupled by a flexible shaft 33, one screw 10 being operated by reducing gear 11, 12 and pawl- and - ratchet mechanism 17, 19. The shaft 33 passes through an opening in the operating cam 5 and is provided with sleeves 34, 35 having non-circular parts fitting holes of similar crosssection in the screws 10. Sleeve 35 is provided with a flange axially located by a spring ring 38. Specification. 446,339 is referred to.
