Abstract
456,040. Arc-lamp electrodes. COMPAGNIE LORRAINE DE CHARBONS POUR L'ELECTRICITE, 173, Boulevard Haussman, Paris. Dec. 30, 1935, No. 36002. Convention date, Jan. 25. [Class 39 (i)] The cores of electrodes for producing the " Beck effect" consist of carbon with one or more of the metals of atomic numbers from 23 to 28 inclusive, viz., iron, nickel, cobalt, manganese, chromium and vanadium, in metallic form. The metals may be from 15-70 per cent by weight of the core, or oxides, fluorides, oxyfluorides or other insoluble compounds of the rare earths may be added, when a suitable composition is 11 per cent iron, 41 per cent cerium fluoride, and the remainder carbon.
