Abstract
455,754. Gas - washing plant. SOC. POUR L'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES AB-DER-HALDEN, 26, Rue de la Baume, Paris. Feb. 18, 1936, No. 4890. Convention date, Feb. 19, 1935. [Class 55 (ii)] Tar particles are removed from combustible gases prior to removing water vapour and lighter oils therefrom, by passing the hot gas in countercurrent to a mass of tar descending a column 2, such as a bubble washer, maintained at a temperature of over 100‹ C., and circulating in a closed cycle, the water vapour and lighter oils being then removed by a cold water tubular condenser 9. The tar cycle includes a conditioning receptacle 5 wherein its temperature and composition are regulated. The former may be effected by a heating worm 6. The condensate from the condenser separates in a settling vessel 13, the water being discarded and the oil returned to the receptacle 5. Any remaining oil particles in the gas are removed in an impact apparatus 17 and similarly returned. The viscosity of the dehydrated tar may also be adjusted by addition of oil or extraneous tar; by partial distillation with steam injected at 23 ; or by byepassing the oils from the settling tank and impact apparatus.
