455,011. Ice - making. ELECTROLUX, Ltd., Luton, Bedfordshire.-(Assignees of Platen-Munters Refrigerating System Aktiebolag; 2, Norrmalmstorg, Stockholm) April 12, 1935, No. 11382. Convention date, April 14, 1934. [Class 29] A zigzag shaped insertion member 11 for forming prism-shaped ice-blocks in a tray 16 is provided with ends 14, 15 adapted to grip over the ends of the tray, the member being stretched during engagement. The member is preferably of general curved form when detached so that the bottoms of the zigzags always contact with the tray when in place. The first ice prism may be detached by manipulating the overhanging part of the front edge 15 of the insertion member, after which the tray, which is of thin aluminium plate, may be flexed to detach the insertion member and all the ice prisms. Preferably several insertion members are used, separated by vertical longitudinal partitions. The ends of the insertion member or the edges of the tray, particularly at the front, are provided with knobs &c. 18 to space apart the engaging surfaces sufficiently to avoid capillary siphoning of water out of the tray. A prism of rubber may be placed in the front space 19 of the tray to prevent the formation of a rigid block of ice and to facilitate release of the insertion member.
