[Class 29] A removable grid for domestic ice-making trays 10 comprises two separate longitudinal strips 11, 12, each carrying transverse ribs or partitions 15, 16 and pivoted on a common pivot 17 near one end so that one strip with attached ice prisms may be moved relatively to the other strip in releasing the grid from the tray. The rear edge 18 of each longitudinal strip is strengthened and the rear wall of the tray is reinforced where the strip engages it in the lifting movement. The pivot 17 is arranged so that the corner 20 of one strip engages the bottom of the tray in the lifting movement and thereby prizes up the other strip and attached cubes. Known releasing means such as levers or cams may be employed for raising the front ends of the grid, or such may be dispensed with since a small force only is required to release one half separately by means of a handle part 13. In a modification, the grid is formed by narrow longitudinal strips on which are threaded U-shaped transverse members, with one long and one short limb. Apertures or prongs may be formed in the longer limbs to anchor the ice cubes to one another or to the grid to prevent unintentional separation of the cubes individually. After the grid with attached cubes is removed from the tray, the two halves may be turned into alignment, when by careful flexure any desired number of cubes may be detached and the grid then replaced in the tray.
