506,103. Ice-making. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 8, 1938, No. 17062. Convention date, Juno 8, 1937. [Class 29] Ice blocks are mechanically released in separate pairs from a freezing-tray 13 by a pronged hand lever 26 which straddles a longitudinal partition element 18 and, bearing on the ice blocks, engages a flange 19 on a transverse partition clement 17 to move the latter vertically together with the attached element 18. A lip 22 at the lower end of the element 17 tends to shift the ice blocks. Fig. 5 shows a modified lever 33 bearing on an adjacent partition element 17. In another form the lever rocks on the rim of the tray before engaging the ice blocks. The series of partition elements may be retained in assembled relation by inter-connecting them by links 44, Fig. 8, by rods 71 and slots 73, Fig. 12, or by flexible strands. When pivoted links are used, they may be arranged at both ends of the transverse elements 17. The lever 26 may be used to lift the freezing-tray from the supporting surface of the cooling unit, by engaging recesses in the base of the tray.
