Description

Sept. 17, 1929. G. w. MASON TRAY FOR REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS Filed June' 14, 1926 Patented Sept. 17 1929;
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE GEORGE 'W. MASON, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO GOIPELANIJ PRODUCTS, INC., 01 DETROIT, MICHIGAN, A CORPORATION OF MICHIGAN TRAY FOR REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS Application filed June 14,
It is the primary object of my invention to provide a tray such as is commonly used in the freezing chambers of refrigerators equipped with artificial refrigeration sys- 5 tems for the purpose of freezing ice cubes or desserts, which tray shall be much deeper than the ordinary ice tray and shall be provided with means whereby it may be used either for freezing desserts or ice cubes, and so arranged that when it is used for freezing ice cubes a large number of cubes may be obtained.
With the above and other objects in view, my invention consists in the arrangement, combination and construction of the various parts of my improved device as described in the specification, claimed in my claim and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which."
Fig. 1 is a side elevation partly broken away, showing my invention.
Fig. 2 is a top or plan view of my improved device.
I have shown a tray'5 which is approximately four times the height of a conventional ice tray used in domestic refrigeration systems and is provided with a handle 6 for withdrawing it from the freezing chamber of a refrigerator.
Within the tray 5 I provide a plurality of grids comprising intersecting strips 7 and 8 adapted to form squares within which cubes of ice may be frozen. In order that a- 5 large number of cubes may be made in the one tray, I provide spacing plates 9 between the grids so that each grid becomes in effect a separate tray for freezing separate cubes of ice.
40 Should it be desired to use the device for freezing desserts, the various grids and plates may be removed from the tray and the tray utilized as one large receiver for a dessert to be frozen.
It will be obvious that various chan es may be made in the arrangement, com ination and construction of the various parts of my improved device without departing from the spirit of my invention, and it is my intention to cover by my claim such 1926. Serial No. 115,996.
changes as may be reasonably included within the scope thereof.
What I claim is:
In combination, a. water tight pan, a plurality of grid members removably received in said pan one above the other, said grid members each comprising strips of metal lying in a vertical plane and intersecting each
