[Class 29] A metal ice tray is provided with a handle 19 mounted upon a fixed or rotatable shaft 22 supported in a sleeve formed by turning over the front edge of the tray, said handle having lugs 21 adapted, upon pulling the handle, to abut against fixed stops 23 on the tray compartment and so release the tray. By pressing the handle inwards, the lugs 21, or projections 24, Fig. 7, thereon, effect the release of the cube-forming grid in the tray by contact with a cross-bar 18 secured to the grid. In a modification, handles 19, 25, Fig. 8, are provided at opposite ends of the tray for releasing the tray and the grid respectively. Fig. 10 shows a metal grid formed of strips 35 carrying ribs 36 and secured to an insert 30 shaped to the front of the tray and having a ledge 31 against which the handle lugs abut. The grid may be formed by bending a strip of metal substantially to the form shown in Fig. 10, or by securing together a series of units 40, Fig. 11. Further, the grid may comprise a U-shaped strip 35, Fig. 13, having ribs 36, Fig. 16, secured thereto. In another arrangement, the grid consists of strips 48, Fig. 17, secured to end-plates 30, 50 and having ribs 36, Fig. 20.
