Abstract
454,731. Roll-holders. SMITH, F. 0., 133, Upper Holland Road, Sutton Coldfield. May 18, 1935, No. 14573. [Class 18] A holder for a roll of paper or tape comprises two spaced arms 15, Fig. 2, with upstanding portions 20 which enter transverse apertures in a cylindrical axle 10 for the roll whereby the latter is supported at a constant distance from the wall to which the arms are attached. The axle 10 comprises a tube or is formed from a sheet metal blank bent to cylindrical form and it is provided with end caps ; and the arms 15 are parts of a substantially U-shaped bracket formed with eyes to take screws 19 securing the holder to a wall, &c. In a modification, the bracket comprises stout horizontal posts 28, Fig. 5, with upstanding projections 30 which take into recesses in extensions of flanged spigot members 25 fitting into -the ends of the roll axle. The latter comprises tubes 23 engaging over the bosses of the spigot members 25 and a rotatable tube 21. The tubes 23 carry spring-pressed bolts 37 which lock the axle to the projections 30, and to unlock the axle-which can be done only after substantially all the roll has been withdrawn-the tube 21 is rotated so that cam slots 31 therein engage the upturned ends of the bolts 37 to withdraw the latter and thus allow the axle to be lifted away from the holder.
