Abstract

454,707. Casting the joints of cycle handle bars. PIQUEREZ, E., Bassecourt, Berne, Switzerland. March 7, 1936, Nos. 6949 and 6950. Convention dates, March 14, 1935 and Dec. 13, 1935. [Class 83 (i)] [See also Group XXXI] The handle bar 1 of a cycle is connected to its shank by pressure casting, the connecting metal being preferably shaped by the mould to form supports 7, 8, 9 and 11, Figs. 1 and 7, for a lamp, brake or other accessories, a core being used to form a hole 6 for the usual bolt b for the expanding cone. The parts of the tubes engaged by the molten metal may be milled, drilled as at 5, Fig. 4, or stamped to form recesses 4, Fig. 3, to prevent relative rotation. If holes are drilled through a tube a core is inserted therein to prevent the molten metal from filling the tube.
