Abstract

453,547. Water -gas generation. WINTERSHALL AKT.-GES., 139, Hohenzollernstrasse, and SCHMALFELDT, H., 15, Bergstrasse, both in Cassel, Germany. Nov. 2, 1935, No. 30361. Convention date, Nov. 26, 1934. [Classes 55 (i) and 55 (ii)] In the production of water gas, or gas for benzine synthesis by the gasefication of pulverulent fuel in a gasefier a by circulating gas pro. duced in the process and heated in a heater n wherein the discharged gas is utilized to pre-dry the original fuel fed into the gas stream from a hopper e. the drying gas is charged with the completely or partly gasefied dust. The drying gas issues from the gasefier at a temperature of 500-900‹ C. Mechanical disintegrating means may also be used and the coal dust is then separated from lumps in a cyclone g and an electric dust separator k before its admission at b into the gasefier. Part of the dust is continuously withdrawn at t to prevent undue accumulation of ash in the cycle. The gas discharged from the separators is cooled and freed from dust in a washer l by means of water or a coal dust suspension in water, part of the gas then being collected at p and the remainder left in the circuit. Powdered coal. charcoal, lignite and peat may be gasefied and the gasefication temperature is specified as 700-1600‹ C. In a modified method of working, the heater n is replaced by one or more regenerators heated by combustion gas and hot air, the latter being obtained from an air heater heated by the combustion of coal dust separated from the main circuit.
