Abstract

452,776. Washing granular materials. SIMON - CARVES, Ltd., Cheadle Heath, Stockport, and ADAMS, V. H., Ty Gwyn, Marple Bridge, near Stockport. Feb. 27, 1935, No. 6205. [Class 82 (ii)] The dirt from the washing-bed of a jig passes on to a shelf and float-controlled means are provided for imparting a reciprocating motion to the shelf when the dirt bed exceeds a predetermined thickness so as to discharge the dirt therefrom. A shelf 2, formed as a plate pivoted at 3, is located at the end of the washing bed 1 so that the dirt passes from the bed on to the plate. A float 5 which rests in or on the dirt on the bed 1 is adapted, when it rises to a predetermined height, to actuate a solenoid 9 which is connected by a lever 12 and a chain 13 to a weighted lever 10 and causes this lever to drop into engagement with a rod which is reciprocated by an eccentric 19. The lever 10 is connected by means of levers 17 and 18 with the plate 2 and thus causes reciprocation of the plate and discharge of the dirt. The bed 1 is formed with a downwardly directed flange 4 projecting over the plate to assist the discharge of the dirt.
