Abstract

292,012. Fleischer, S. S. C. Nov. 8, 1927. Warp threads, uniting.-A reaching-in apparatus applicable to a loom, a warp tying or twisting machine, &c. has its selecting member 16 reciprocated in a direction normal to the plane of the sheet of warps &c. 25 while it is advanced in the plane of the warps &c. at each reciprocation a small distance which is only a fraction of the least thread thickness operated on. As shown, the bar 14 carrying the pivoted selector 16 is reciprocated by an electromagnet &c. 12 and lever 11 which through a pawl 10 operates a ratchet nut 8 to advance the housing 6 along the fixed screw 7. The housing 6 carries a thread strainer 22 preferably having an inclined end 24, and the bar 14 carries an arm 21 for hitting and separating the end threads 25. When the selector 16 engages a thread, 251, it is turned about its pivot by the action of a spring 17 and closes a circuit 26 thus energizing the magnet 12 until the thread 251 is removed. When the lever 11 is operated mechanically, e.g. by a cam, the return of the bar 14 is prevented by a stop 20, Fig. 5, when the selector 16 is deflected.
