Abstract

A rubber article having a cr<\>zpe finish is produced by stretching the surface of a rubber gel corresponding in shape to the final article and coating the surface with a thin layer of a rubber composition, e.g. solution or latex, before it has shrunk to its final size. In making a beach ball, of, say, 16 ins. diameter, the gel shape is inflated to a diameter exceeding this, and also exceeding, say, 25 ins. diameter. It is then allowed to deflate when a considerable amount of moisture exudes. It is then inflated to 25 ins. diameter and after partly drying at room temperature is sprayed with a thin coating of latex. It is then deflated, dried, and vulcanized.
