Abstract

398,580. Balls for games. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., 32, Osnaburgh Street, and KENWARD, L. V., St. James's House, St. James's Street, both in London. April 26, 1932, No. 11941. [Class 132 (ii).] A covering for inflated or inflatable balls for tennis and the like games is provided by the assembly on an adhesive surface of substances in suitably divided form, the adhesive surface being formed by an adhesive, which may be rubber, rubber solution or latex, carrying substances suitable for the production of the necessary physical characteristics, the adhesive being one which sets or otherwise changes its state by suitable treatment such as heating or vulcanization. The adhesive may be guttapercha, Balata, celluloid, cellulose, varnish, resins, linseed oil, glue or gelatin and may be applied to the surface of the ball or to textile material to be applied to the ball. The substances incorporated in the adhesive may be sulphur with or without zinc oxide or other ingredients used in the vulcanization of rubber. The coating material may be powdered metal, cork dust, wood flour, paper, fibre, granulated substances, comminuted cotton or flock singly or in admixture and may be such as serve to reduce the permeability of the ball.
