Abstract

450,955. Moulding concrete. TUYAU ETANCHE EN CIMENT ARME, Bonneuil, Seine, France. Oct. 23, 1934, No. 30416. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 25, 1935]. [Class 87 (ii)] In moulding concrete, a plastic or wet mixture is poured into an apertured mould 5 internally lined with a cloth 7 allowing water to pass and the mould is vibrated. The concrete is wetted to 60 per cent and is freed from air before being poured into the mould. A flexible perforated jacket such as wire netting 6 may be provided between the cloth and the mould wall. For pipes, both a core 1 and the mould casing 5 may be lined and apertured. The core may be a resilient sheet-metal casing having ledges 1<a> between which a removable wedge 4 is provided. The upper part of the mould may be slit and provided with cheeks 8 extending along the mould. After filling the mould with concrete, a further quantity m may be added and a bar 10 loaded with a weight 11 placed thereon between the cheeks 8 so as to force the concrete m into the mould and assist in removing air and water from the upper part of the mould. For blocks, the top of a mould may also be closed by a loaded bar guided by ledges.
