Abstract
450,563. Window-cleaning appliances. OWEN, P. W., and OWEN, G. C., Grove Street, Wilmslow, Cheshire. March 13, 1935, No. 7760. [Class 138 (i)] An appliance for removing water of condensation from the inner faces of shop and like windows comprises a bar a provided with two spaced felt-covered flexible wiper members b<1> and adapted to be raised or lowered with the wiper members yieldingly engaging the window. The ends of the bar lie within guides c and are connected to cords f passing around pulleys d, e and a further pulley (not shown) provided with a winch handle by the actuation of which the bar a is raised or lowered. For use on windows which are slightly concave, the bar may be provided with an arched block over which is stretched a wire or band l adapted to be tensioned to give the bar a bowed form. The ends of the bar may be shouldered or flanged to bind against either guide c in the event of one end of the bar tending to fall quickly. The bar and member j may be of light-section metal. According to the Provisional Specification, spring means may be provided to prevent either end of the bar from falling accidentally.
