449,700. Folding seats. HAWKER AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and CAMM, S., Canbury Park Road, Kingston-on-Thames. Feb. 9, 1935, No. 4247. [Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (v)] A mounting structure for a folding seat for aircraft or vehicles comprises two pivotally interconnected links, 6, 7, Fig. 1, each pivoted at points 5, 17 to a rigid supporting frame or base part, e.g. to a vertical member 1 and to a vertical pillar 2, one at least of the links being breakable in one direction but not in the other about a knuckle joint 9 to allow the other link 7 to swing about the point 17 so that the seat 22 which is rigidly connected to the link 7 may be folded against the member 1. A pair of links is provided on each side of the seat, with suitable cross members. One part 11 of the link 6 may be telescopically adjustable, and the link 7 may be formed with a forked lower part, the pin 17 at the lower end of the fork being engageable in one of a number of slots 18 in the pillar 2. The seat is mounted on a cross-bar coaxial with the pins 8, and is supported at its front edge by a bowed member 21 secured to the links 7. As shown in Fig. 4, the seat may be pivoted to the yoke 21 by clips 26, tubes 25 being secured to the cross member 20 and to the yoke 21 to form a rigid structure. In this case the seat is padded on both sides, and may be used in two positions as shown. The seat may be connected to a fixed point by links so as to be horizontal in both the folded and extended positions of the links.
