Wind and like soreens.- A windscreen for road vehicles, particularly for the rear seats thereof, is provided with means for supporting the central portion in an adjustable longitudinal position relative to the vehicle, as well as with fittings for securing the ends or sides of the screen to the vehicle to prevent vibration. The windscreen is supported at the rear ends of two forwardlyconverging telescopic arms 14, converging to a member 8, angularly adjustable about its horizontal axis to permit the screen to be folded dowr. against the back of the front seat, and carried by a support 4 hinged at its lower end to the back of the front seats or floor of the vehicle and supported at an intermediate point. The ends of the windscreen may be secured to the vehicle sides by a fly-nut holding a screw 23 in a slot in an arm 22 adjustably pivoted by a fly-nut 20 and engaging surfaces 17 to a bracket 16 attached to the vehicle sides, or, particularly when the screen is of the flexible type described in Specifications 108,334 and 109,601, spigots on the ecreen are adapted to engage sockets or their equivalent at the sides of the vehicle, the elasticity of the screen holding them in engagement. The screen may be built up of sections, and when these are flexible, their vertical edges are connected by butt-hinges which, while allow. ing the screen sections to fold forwardly prevent them from moving backwards past an approximately alignment position so that the screen may be bent bodily backwards to a curve. An alternative construction of hinge connection is shown in Fig. 8. Eccentric locking plates 44 mounted on hinge members 39 and attached to a rod 46 are turned simultaneously by a handle 47 to engage in slots in the hinge members 38 when the screen sections are in alignment or other predetermined position. Additional slots may be provided to lock the screen sections at other relative positions. An apron 54 is .attached to the lower edge of the screen.
