Abstract

449,685. Controlling ventilation. FARRER, J. O., 27, Chancery Lane, London.- (Auditorium Conditioning Corporation ; 17, East 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A.) Dec. 1 1934, No. 34605. [Class 137] Air to be supplied to an enclosure is conditioned at a central plant 20 and then conveyed to local distributing stations 22 where it is mixed with air withdrawn from the enclosure in the region of each local station and the mixture is then discharged into each local region. The supply piping 21 from the plant 20 can thus be made of small diameter as only a small amount of highly conditioned'air will pass therethrough. The units 22 comprise a fan chamber into which conditioned air is drawn through connections 23 and air from the enclosure through connections 36. The fan then supplies air to the enclosure through pipes 37. The conditioner 20 may also be supplied with recirculated air through connection 101. Dampers 31 are provided in connections 23 which may be controlled by thermostats 32. The units may be disposed in various rooms of a building instead of in various parts of a theatre as shown. The conditioner 20 comprises a chamber 45 which contains water sprays 59 and through which the air is drawn by a fan 57. A wet bulb thermostat 64 controls a valve 63 which regulates the proportion of recirculated water from chamber 45 and cold water from tank 100 fed to sprays 59.
