Abstract
449,486. Making finned corrugated tubes. RENARD, J. F. H., 17, Westbourne Park Road, Paddington, London. Jan. 19, 1935, No. 1853. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Helical corrugations which are subsequently crinkled are made in a tube a rotated and moved axially by a chuck c actuated from shafts e, h driven by an electromotor d, by rollers o, p, engaging the outside and inside of the tube. The inner rollers p are carried on a head w on a mandrel k withdrawable by a pinion m. The shafts e, h, k are carried in a swinging head. The outer rollers may be adjusted by a rotated cam v. The tube is electrically heated at 4. A fin or wire may be fed from a reel 38 into the groove of the corrugation and secured by a roller which engages the outside of the corrugation to crinkle the walls of the corrugation. A knife associated with the outer rollers may be provided for severing the tube or the fin. The corrugating oval tubes the outside roller is adjusted radially by the oscillation of a cam housing v<1> by a cam 35. The inner rollers p are carried on links oscillated by a cam w.
