Abstract

1,056,075. Making heat exchangers. ESCHER WYSS A.G. July 11, 19G3 [July 11, 19621, No. 27588/63. Heading B3A. [Also in Division F4] A double - walled heatconducting partition having two spaced - apart walls bridged by a corrugated strip, separates two fluids in heat exchange with one another, the cavity within the partition being formed by a space between two tubes of differing diameter located one within the other, and the strip being bonded at the corrugation crests thereof to the respective tubes. In a method of assembly a corrugated copper strip 2<SP>3</SP> is wound helically around an inner tube 2<SP>2</SP>, the corrugations being offset from turn to turn. This assembly is then inserted into an outer tube 2<SP>1</SP> and the inner tube is expanded to press the corrugation crests of the strip against the tubes. Soldering foil is wound around the inner tube before winding on the strip and wound around the strip after the latter has been wound on to the inner tube.
