Abstract

449,298. Making foam. MASCHINENFABRIK BUCKAU R. WOLF AKT.-GES., 82, Schonebeckerstrasse, Magdeburg, Germany. Jan. 9, 1936, No. 779. Convention date, Jan. 18, 1935. [Class 47 (ii)] In the foam-flotation method of clarifying waste water, the water is mixed with foaming agents and air, to form foam, in a container 1, which may be of transparent material, beneath which is mounted a centrifugal pump 2 with a direct-coupled driving motor 3. A stirrer 6 is mounted on the extended shaft 4 of the pump rotor. The pump circulates the liquid and foam by pipes 11, 7, and a foamdelivery pipe 9, of reduced cross-section and with a control valve, is branched from the pipe 7. Water is supplied to the container 1 by a pipe 8, and foaming agents by pipes 11, air being drawn into the vortex cavity produced by the stirrer 6. A conical baffle 10 prevents the foam from being thrown out of the container. The container is provided with a liquid-level indicator.
