Abstract
449,231. Refrigerators. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Dec. 23, 1935, No. 35591. Convention date, Dec. 27, 1934. [Class 29] [See also Group X] Heat - insulating strips 17, 22, com posed partly of rub ber or a condensa tion product, are secured betweer flanges 38, 39 anc 25, 28 respectively of outer and inner spaced sheet meta walls 15, 16 and 19 20 of a refrigerator and its door by resilient clamping means, whereby the use of screws is avoided. Yoke members 30 are engaged in loops 31 formed in the flanges and are held in place by coiled springs 29. The sheet metal walls are assembled with the usual heat insulation between them, and are sprung apart to enable the strips 17, 22 to be inserted. These strips have dovetailed middle portions 42 to provide engaging grooves. A rubber gasket 23 is also secured in the door by engagement between the strip 22 and the flange 25. At the corners of the door and frame the strips are cut away to accommodate metal angle pieces. The outer door plate is braced by crossed diagonal bars of channel section bolted together at the centre.
