N., c/o Siemens Electric Lamps & Supplies, Ltd., Dock Road, Preston, Lancashire. Dec. 8, 1934, No. 35345. [Class 39 (i)] In hot-cathode lamps operating with highpressure unsaturated mercury vapour and having the discharge tube enclosed in an outer jacket evacuated or filled with gas up to a few mm. pressure, the quantity of mercury used alone as the filling is such that the potential drop per mm. of distance between the electrodes is À5-À6 volts so that the lamp is efficient but can be operated horizontally or at an angle as well as vertically. Dimensions of one particular lamp are specified.
