Abstract

448,444. Vacuum closures for jars. INGRAM, H., Hotel Brunswick, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. Dec. 6, 1934, No. 35083. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1933. [Class 125 (iii)] A closure cap foi jars &c. has a flexible diaphragm C with a vent orifice 3 and a valve D of rubber &c. mounted on a flexible support E which is fixed by snap engagement to the cap to form a unitary construction. An outer screw cap B may be provided with an opening in register with the vent 3 so that a tod may be inserted to unseat the valve. The valve support may be provided with a depressed or concave seat for the valve. The diaphragm may be formed integrally with the screw-threaded apron, and the vent may be covered with paper &c. An elastic gasket 10 may be provided with the closure.
