Abstract
448,332. Venturi-meters. ELECTROFLO METERS CO., Ltd., and ENGEL, F. V. A. E., Abbey Road, Park Royal, London. Dec. 3, 1934, No. 34709. [Class 69 (i)] [See also Group XIX] Apparatus for measuring the flow of liquids comprises a first member displaced proportionally to the differential head between a point at the upstream side of a Venturi flume or a weir stream and a point at the throat of the flume or crest of the weir, a second member displaced proportionally to the head at one of these points, and means for combining the two displacements to give a resultant related to the rate of flow of the liquid. In the form shown, a float 2 indicates the head h1 on the upstream side of a flume and a float 1 indicates the head h2 at the throat of the flume. A point 28 is moved proportionally to h<2>2 (h2-h2), i.e., proportionally to the square of the rate of flow. The square root of this is determined by a device 37 described in Specification 409,218, [Group XXXVI]. Specifications 434,052 and 448,333, [both in Group XIX], also are referred to.
