Abstract
447,895. Flow meters. STOKOE, C. L., 11, King Edward's Road, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Nov. 24, 1934, Nos. 8174/36 and 8175/36 (both divided out of 447,809). [Class 69 (i)] Fluid-flow meters in which the action of the fluid against a movable member turns a spindle are provided with means to operate alarm and/or control gear at a predetermined flow, said means embodying a visible indicator and being adjustable to vary the value of the predetermined flow. The spindle a, Figs. 1 and 3, carries a pointer b movable over a dial c, and the alarm &c. gear is operated by a tappet d on a disc e. The disc e is normally pressed against the pointer boss b<1> by a washer f and spring g<1> so as to turn with the pointer, but may be adjusted after loosening a nut g to slacken the spring. Its setting is indicated by a scale e<1> and a line f<1>. In the form shown, the tappet tilts a pivoted conducting member h to cause a contact h<1> to engage and raise a contact j<2> on a pivoted conducting member j to close a circuit through terminals 1, 2 and open a circuit through terminals 2, 3. In another form, the tappet engages a spring- pressed lever and causes the operation of a valve so that compressed air blows a whistle or operates control gear.
