Abstract
446,795. Repairing posts. McMAHON, B., 27, Avenel Road, Malvern, Victoria, Australia. July 1, 1935, No. 18802. [Class 20 (i)] A method of repairing posts consists in supporting the upper part of the post by means of a temporary lifting device, severing the post near the ground level, removing the stump, and substituting therefor a metal base to which the pole is connected. A temporary framework 2 is erected near to the post which is supported on the framework by pulley gear 7, and the post is severed at 12, the old stump 3a being removed. A metal pedestal comprising base 17, ribs 18, pillar 16 and sliding sleeve 19 is then positioned beneath the suspended post and resilient material 23 is interposed between the post and the pillar. The sleeve is then slid upwards to receive the post to which it is secured by bolts 21. The lower end of the post may be reduced in diameter to provide a drip edge 3c over the upper end of the sleeve.
