[Class 36] A radio frequency insulator comprises two dished mica discs 5, clamped together at their outer peripheries by a metal ring of X- section or, as shown, by an L- sectioned ring 2 into which a washer 3 is screwed or pressed, and held in spaced relationship at their inner peripheries by shoulders 1<a> on a metal member 1 and coacting washers 6, 7, screwed or pressed thereon. The inner and outer metal members, 1 2, are suitably formed for attachment to the devices which are to be insulated. For example, the inner member 1 may be bored axially to house a conductor secured thereto by a grub screw, and the outer member of X-section may be grooved to locate wires running parallel to the bore in the inner member 1. The insulators are particularly applicable to concentric cables. Fig. 3 shows such a cable, comprising a conductor A on which the insulators B are threaded and outer conductors C spaced by the insulators and covered by a lead or other sheath D. The conductors C may be straight or twisted. In a modification the outer conductor comprises a tube of metal gauze.
