[Class 29] A refrigerator includes a cabinet having an inner metal liner 13 forming a compartment to be cooled and a refrigerant coil 16 for cooling this liner, refrigerant from the coil passing through a passage 28 in a shelf 17 in the compartment. A header 29 is provided to maintain the passage 28 in a flooded condition. Refrigerant from the compressor contained in casing 17 is forced through condenser coils 20 and 22 and the liquid refrigerant therefrom accumulates in float chamber 24. Coil 16 is supplied from this chamber and discharges refrigerant into a U-tube 27 connecting the header 29 and one end of passage 28. The other end of the passage is connected to header 29 by connection 30. The injector action of the refrigerant from coil 16 sets up a vigorous circulation between the header 29 and passage 28. Gaseous refrigerant passes from the header 29 through passage 31 to the compressor.
