Abstract
445,601. Shaft furnaces. LUDEWIG, F., Siegen, and SIEGENER AKT.-GES. FUR EISENKONSTRUKTION BRUCKENBAU UND VERZINKEREI, Geisweid, Kreis Siegen, both in Westphalia, Germany. Jan. 30, 1935, No. 3054. [Class 51 (ii)] A shaft furnace for roasting ores is suspended from the framing d of the charging platform e so as to leave, between its lower end c and a plate i mounted on a foundation block h, an opening into which project scrapers v for transferring the treated material to a discharge device comprising two rotary annular plates k, l arranged stepwise and rotated at different speeds in the same or opposite directions. The scrapers v, which move the ore from the plate i over the plate k to the plate l, are carried on the plate k and are adjustable in their mounting frames w<1> in order that the angle made with the periphery of the plate i can be varied. A fixed scraper y, Fig. 2, serves to transfer the ore from the outer plate l to a collecting bunker or a discharge conveyer. The plates k, l carry depending rings o, p which run on rollers m, n and are formed with teeth for engagement by the driving pinions s, t. The draught through the furnace is assisted by a compressed air injector 10 arranged in the chimney 7, the latter being formed at its lower end with a water or sand trough 13 in which engages a sealing flange 14 on the vertically movable furnace cover 6.
