[Class 125 (i)] [See also Group VI] In a preserving-jar 4, the fruit &c, is kept immersed in the preserving liquid by a loading plate 1 removably disposed on a supporting pin 2 resting on the base of the jar, e.g. in a central annular projection 3 or depression. The upper portion 2a of the pin 2 serves as a handle by which the plate 1 can be withdrawn, and is centred when the jar is closed within an annular projection 5 on the lid 6.
