Abstract

445,400. Pulleys; securing articles on shafts. DOUGLAS, LAWSON, & CO., Ltd., Dark Lane, Gelderd Road, Birstall, near Leeds, and LAWSON, J. C., Mayfield, Whitehall Road, New Farnley, Leeds. May 31, 1935, No.15889. [Class 80 (i)] Each half of a split pulley comprises a rolled or pressed metal rim member 2 to which is secured a double arched web - member 3, Fig. 3, formed by bending the semicircular ends of the oval annular blank, Fig. 4, at right angles along the dotted lines 3<a>, the centre portions 4 forming bridges to receive means such as bolts 6 for securing the pulley halves together to grip the shaft. The bridges 4 may be strengthened by bars 5 tapped at 9 to receive the bolts 6. Separate bush-members 11 may be placed around the shaft, projections 12 on the web-members 3 entering recesses 13 on the bush-members to prevent relative rotation. Access holes 7 may be formed in the rim to admit the bolts 6. The bush-members may be loose on the shaft or arranged to grip it.
