Abstract

444,873. Systems of lighting for road vehicles. MATHA, H., 4, Chemin de la Solidarite, Algiers. June 27, 1934, Nos. 19036 and 19037. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 7, 1935]. [Class 38 (iv)] [See also Group XI] In a system of lighting for road vehicles, either of a pair of auxiliary lamps fixed with their axes directed towards the sides of the road are switched on automatically by the steering gear as the vehicle makes a turn to either side. In the form shown., a split collar 16 clamped on the tie-rod 17 is formed integrally with an arm 10 which is connected to a finger 9 slidably mounted in a slot 8 in a lever 7 carrying a switch arm 6, the latter co-operating with contact plates 2, 3 connected respectively to the auxiliary lamps 4, 5. The arm 6 is connected to the rear light AR and is connected to a battery 12 upon the closing of any one of three contacts 11, 14, 15 which switch on respectively the ordinary headlights, anti-dazzle lights, and the side lights. In a modification, the finger 9 is carried by a part which is fixed to and oscillated by means of the spindle of the steering-gear.
