Abstract

1,259,954. Road traffic signals on vehicles. R. F. SELLERS. 29 May, 1969 [12 March, 1968], No. 11919/68. Heading G4Q. A vehicle indicating system includes a multiposition control member 15 connected electrically to pairs of lamps 11l, 11r, 13l, 13r arranged at the corners of the vehicle, so that in one position 1R or 1L of the control member one lamp of each pair on one side of the vehicle is operated to indicate overtaking, and in a further position 2R or 2L the other lamp of each pair is operated to indicate turning. In position 1R, one of the lights 11r and one of the lights 13r are energized and made to flash by flasher unit 18, including a bimetal contact 18a, acting on contacts 26 in relay 25. In position 2R, the flasher unit acts on contacts 26, 27 so that the four lights 11r, 13r flash alternately in pairs. Dashboard warning lights 20 ... 23 are provided. A four position pivoted switch arm arranged on the steering wheel is described with reference to Fig. 3 (not shown).
