Abstract
444,843. Cathode-ray tubes. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and DUDDING B. P., c /o General Electric Co., Ltd., Wembley, Middlesex. Feb. 22, 1935, No. 5758. [Class 39 (i)] In a tube for use in television transmission the mosaic screen is formed on a thin glass surface 2 which is blown on to a metal cup 1, or on which a metal covering is coated ; this metal outer coat or cup forms the outer plate of the condenser, the mosaic elements being the inner part. As shown, the cup of nickel-iron alloy receives the glass, which is blown on to the cup. The thickness of the bulb would be about 0À02 mm. ; holes 3 allow air to escape during manufacture. In the form where a metal coating is deposited, the glass end is about 0À3 mm. thick. The coating may be in sections, by making lanes in the coating ; the gaps so obtained may if necessary be filled with insulation to hold the dielectric plate 2.
