Abstract
443,878. Cycle pedals. BARON, J., 39, Rolandstrasse, Mehlem-on-Rhine, Germany. Nov. 7, 1935, No. 30828. [Class 136 (ii)] In a cycle pedal of the type provided with foot-plates resiliently supported on opposite sides of the pedal axle by helical springs, the two foot-plates are connected together to form a movable frame, which is held in position solely by the force of the springs, without the use of sliding guides. The central sleeve 6, mounted by ball bearings on the spindle 1, is formed of two semi-cylindrical halves the end portions of which are provided with laterally-projecting ears 7 connected together by rivets 8, the ears 7 forming abutments for coil springs 9, preferably of conical form, arranged in two pairs on either side of the sleeve 6. The outer ends of the springs engage cups 10 secured to foot-plates 11, the springs being inserted under compression. The foot-plates 11 are rigidly connected together on each side by stay-plates 12, either riveted or detachably connected thereto ; or the foot-plates may be connected by bolts.
