Abstract

611,218. Road-vehicle spring-suspensions. SOC. DE CONSTRUCTIONS MECANIQUES CHENARD & WALCKER. Aug. 7, 1945, No. 20179. Convention date, April 20, 1943. Addition to 602,892. [Class 108 (ii)] The suspension device of the parent Specification which comprises a bundle of prismatic torsion bars 33 secured to the vehicle frame and to a wheel-supporting crank 31, the journal of which is mounted in a bearing (not shown) on the vehicle frame having a lining with a highfriction coefficient, is provided with additional means such as a tension spring 35 adjustable as to tension for progressively increasing the resistance to movement of the crank. In an alternative construction, a common spring 36 is disposed between extensions to the inner ends of the cranks of two suspension devices, the torsion bar assemblies of which are disposed parallel to each other and to longitudinal vehicle frame-members. Each wheel is carried by means of a parallel linkage formed by the crank and a link connected at its inner end to the frame.
